Monona Grove senior Jack Allen added three state titles to his collection and led the Silver Eagles to a third-place finish at the WIAA Division 2 swimming and diving meet at the UW Natatorium.
Allen won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:41.73 and the 100 butterfly in 50.45, individually. Teaming up with junior Mitchell Paull, freshman Lars Doll, and sophomore Andrew Sackett, Allen’s third state title on the night came in the 400 free relay. The relay team finished in 3:13.18 to win the final event. Allen won state titles in the 100 free and 200 free relay last year.
Junior Patrick Sisson finished second once again in the one-meter diving competition. Sisson, who placed eighth in his freshman season, earned second last season as well.

Paull contributed a runner-up finish in the 100-yard backstroke behind McFarland’s Ryan O’Donnell, a UW recruit who set the Division 2 record in the event with a time of 48.35. Paull swam 53.49. Paull also placed fifth in the 100 free, and with junior Tyler Roehr, Sackett and Doll placed second in the 200 medley relay to the Spartans, who set the Division 2 meet record in the event.

MG’s 200 free relay team of Allen, Sackett, Doll, and Roehr finished second to McFarland – which edged MG 1:26.26-1:26.77.

Roehr finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke and fifth in the 200 individual medley for the Silver Eagles, and Sackett was seventh in the 50 free.
Monona Grove scored 237 points behind McFarland (325) and Cedarburg (249.5). Last year the Silver Eagles finished runner-up in a closer 286-279 finish. MG finished third in 2010.
